The Netcare Blaauwberg Hospital in Cape Town currently has two backup diesel generators that supply emergency power to the hospital. During load shedding, the electricity costs as well as the Scope 1 emissions of the Facility increases. To achieve its key strategic objectives of reducing its Scope 1 and 2 emissions, Netcare intends to develop a 2.5 MWh battery energy storage system (“BESS”) at the Blaauwberg Hospital.
